What a random name for a website, I know, but some decisions are best made quickly, without looking back. I knew I wanted to make a place to post a wide variety of content, from photography, to short musings about life, to imaginary tales written in hotel rooms, to travel tips and tricks. Probably many other things too.

How could I begin to ponder a domain name to encapsulate so many ideas? If I dwelled on it for too long, it simply wouldn't happen.

So Alex and I were jet-lagged and watching an Attenborough doco, when he exclaimed "Flamingos...at 400m [above sea level]!"

The next day I decided to set up this site and I just went with it. Something about the fact that somewhere in the world a typically tropical pink bird, that's weird enough to begin with (hello, standing on one leg by choice), seasonally gets stuck, frozen in the water it was standing in, spoke to me. It said "well, that's unexpected". And maybe this site is unexpected, a little random, too. Perfect! Sounds just right.
